There are numerous considerations in purchasing educational software. The following factors are only guidelines, but help you analyze the importance of what you choose.
These aren't placed in any kind of certain order, but make certain you think about your responses to each of these carefully before you make your purchase. Your software enjoyment and learning success will profit from researching before you make your purchase.
- Is it going to hold the user's attention? Find educational software that is self-paced that features a favorite interactive storybook or cartoon character
- Are you looking for software by title or by topic? If you know the name of the software you're trying to find, then you've probably already done some research. But, if all you know is that you're looking for a way to learn to speak French, then take the time to look at the selections and learning techniques available.
- Availability: If possible, find out if the software is currently in stock. Find out what your shipping options are. Are you able to download the product immediately?
- Is it appropriate for the learning style of the user? Does the child learn more by taking quizzes or solving puzzles or playing thinking games? Look for software that features these types.

- Price: Is it the best deal for the product? You can search other web sites to get get a feel for prices and shipping costs. Look for features as no sales tax states and discount shipping.
Considering these factors will ensure that you and your family will make the choice that will optimize your learning experience and the usefulness of your product.
